Rifles and Ammunition

Magnificent 60" Kudu Bull

The caliber you are using is of great importance, but also a personal matter.

It is very important that you are comfortable and familiar with your rifle!

  • No pistols, revolvers, automatic or semi-automatic weapons may be imported into Namibia.
  • July 2004, South Africa had introduced a new weapons importation regulation, stating that no weapons may be shipped, directly to their end destination.
  • Please also note that ammunition may not be transported in your rifle case, as you may be in transit through other countries it is important to note that some laws require ammunition to be transported in a lockable metal container (this is not a requirement in Namibia).
  • Importation of 80 rounds of ammunition per rifle is allowed.
  • A document of ownership, stating the serial number of the firearms is also required, this document can be obtained at your local police station.
  • The Namibian Authority do not place any restriction on the temporary importation of hunting rifles, shotguns or bows.
  • Should you prefer to travel without weapons, we have quality rifles and shotguns in camp for hire.
  • A good pair of 8 x 4 binocular is a necessity. While most shots are taken from within a 110 yards, they can range from fairly close in thicker bush to relatively long distances up to 250 yards on open plains, so a good variable scope is suggested, you may also consider bringing a monopod or bipod.
  • Temporary importation permits are issued by the Police at the port of entry.
  • To print a copy of the permit that you can complete before your arrival, go to the Namibia Professional Hunters Association website.
